Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta

As the 2015/16 Rowing season drew to a close, our crews were well supported by family and friends at the Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta in Geelong last weekend, the final event on the rowing calendar.

The HOSG Regatta becomes more competitive each year, and many of our girls reached finals in this hotly contested event.

Medal results on the day included:

  • SILVER – Year 9 Div.7:  Coxed Quad of Paris Mercadante-Ramunni, Eliza McIntosh, Ruby Paul, Victoria Solias and Cox Nyla Bunsee. (Coaches: Emma Rickards and Tahlia Furlan)
  • BRONZE – Open Eight Div.3: Grace Dowell, Ruby Randles, Sophie Pinnuck, Clare Robertson, Rebecca Feneley, Emma Borin, Helen Crews, Lauren Kendall and Cox Caroline Straford. (Coaches: Grace Knox and Bec Craggs)

The crews have been committed to the task at hand, enduring long training sessions and many hours on the river in preparation for their races.

If medals were awarded for team spirit, Genazzano FCJ College would have received GOLD, with loud and spirited cheering from parents and supporters urging the girls across the finish line.

Again, a special thanks to the Parents Association for their generosity and commitment every weekend, ensuring the girls and coaches were also well fed and looked after this weekend.
