Genazzano College students receive Premier’s VCE Awards
29 April 2020
Genazzano students, Isabelle Brugliera and Emily Condon, who completed VCE subjects in 2019, have been recognised for their academic achievement as recipients of Premier’s VCE Awards.
The Awards recognise outstanding results of individual students and pay tribute to the Principals, teachers and families who play a valuable role in supporting these students during their VCE studies.
Isabelle Brugliera, College Dux 2019, received the Top All-Round VCE High Achiever Award which is awarded to students who achieved study scores of 46 or higher in at least five VCE subjects. Ms Brugliera also received the Premier’s Study Awards for Chemistry and Mathematical Methods.
Isabelle is currently studying Medicine at Monash University and is a wonderful example of Genazzano’s aspiration for excellence and ability to motivate young women to challenge themselves and strive for greatness.
Forever grounded, Isabelle inspired other Genazzano students at the annual College VCE Assembly in February where she shared her experience as a VCE student in 2019.
“In the competitive and stressful nature of Year 12, it is so easy to be swept up in the comparison mentality, of comparing your performance to your peers and not yourself. But VCE is not about being the best; it is about being your best, that is all we can ask of ourselves, to be our best”, she said.
She also acknowledged fond memories of her time at Gen.
“Thank you to the Gen community who helped make my experience at Gen unforgettable”.
Also recognised was Emily Condon, a current Year 12 student, who completed Health and Human Development in 2019. She received the Premier’s Study Award in recognition of achieving the top result in a single subject and high merits in individual graded assessment.
A keen sports woman, Emily is the current Sports Captain at the College and has been an instrumental role model for the Gen community during this time learning at a distance.
Along with fellow team mates, Emily has been motivating students with training sessions and social posts to keep them active during their time at home and has been part of the school’s online Strava network that continues to bring the girls together and celebrate sport, health and wellbeing.
Ms Karen Jebb, Principal at Genazzano FCJ College commented on Isabelle and Emily’s achievements.
“I am so proud of Isabelle and Emily receiving these prestigious Premier VCE Awards”, Ms Jebb said.
“Our girls are encouraged to challenge themselves throughout their learning journey and to take responsibility for their own learning, particularly in their senior years”.
“I congratulate both girls on the commitment and focus they’ve displayed to achieve these outstanding results”.
The Premier’s VCE Awards recognises students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the Victorian Certificate of Education.
Genazzano FCJ College is a Catholic Day and Boarding School in Kew offering a co-educational Early Learning Centre and all-girls environment from Prep to Year 12. It offers students a rounded education that prepares them to become resilient, adaptable and confident women.
