Dr. Cameron Roberts visits Genazzano

On Wednesday 15 March, our college had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Cameron Roberts to our music department for a masterclass with some of our senior musicians. Dr. Roberts is a world renowned pianist, doctor and specialist in the science of performance, piano technique optimisation and injury prevention. His playing has been described as “a triumph of musical imagination…” The Australian-born pianist, composer and arranger completed studies in both music and medicine at The University of Melbourne before continuing to study and perform abroad. Drawing on his unique combination of specialties, Dr. Roberts presented a short recital, discussed injury prevention for musicians, and shared his journey from a student to an international artist that leads a double career. Many Gen musicians were particularly inspired by Dr. Roberts’ career path and fascinated with the effective learning and practice strategies that Dr. Roberts imparted. We hope to facilitate more inspiring learning opportunities for our college musicians in future.
