Genazzano Fathers' Association

The Genazzano Fathers' Association (GFA) is a group of fathers and friends who have the common interest of their girls' education at Genazzano FCJ College. As the father of a Genazzano FCJ College student you are automatically a member of the GFA, which lives through its creed: To Love, Laugh and Make a Difference.

The purpose of the GFA is to:

  • make a difference to and enrich the relationship between fathers with our daughters
  • contribute to the personal development of our daughters
  • nurture our daughters' faith and spirituality in activities outside the classroom
  • build a strong and vibrant community of fathers who feel engaged with the association providing reward, recognition and fulfilment
  • as fathers, care for each other in times of need
  • make a difference to the College community, through the leveraging of the fathers' skills, knowledge, experience, resources and network
  • undertake corporate events that are engaging, enjoyable and result in a flow of funds to support the GFA activities and selected college priorities.

The idea of a separate Fathers’ Association was the inspiration of Sr. Margaret Mary Kennedy. Following the tragic death of a member of the parent community Sr. Margaret Mary was concerned that men didn't have the personal networks needed in times of crisis.

Mr David Galbally was elected the first GFA President in 1991. Today the GFA has 67% of 900 fathers attending a GFA event, with 500 girls going on camp or attending an event with their father sharing magical moments and creating memories for a lifetime.

We are the envy of many and are regularly contacted by some of Australia’s most prestigious private schools to understand the secret of Affinis – making connections whilst loving, laughing and making a difference as a Fathers’ Association.

Get involved

At the GFA, we run about 30 events a year and need the assistance of around 25 volunteers to co-ordinate events with the support of the GFA Vice-Presidents. With 27 events we need another 70 volunteers to make things happen.

Our focus with events is to ensure that we don't depend on the same few, and in accordance with our policy, if we don't have volunteers, these events are cancelled. Getting involved with events is fulfilling, rewarding and is a lot of fun building friendships with other fathers, as well as making a difference to our girls.

The Association also hold a number of camps and activities throughout the year.

We hold our monthly meetings during term, on the third Wednesday of the month at 8.00 pm in the College Boardroom, Wardell Building. The meetings are relaxed and brief, with refreshments. All are welcome to attend.

You can still be involved without attending meetings. If your details are on the GFA contact list, you will hear about activities relating to your daughter's year.
